Replacement of the storage battery Do not weaken and do not remove cables of the storage battery on the working engine. Otherwise electronic elements (for example, the generator) can be damaged.

Owing to shutdown of the storage battery data in memories of malfunctions of the engine, the code of a radio receiver protecting it from theft, or brought in memory of a radio receiver of the program are lost given in blocks of electronic memory of the car, for example. Therefore previously it is necessary to find out and write down a code. Otherwise to restore work of a radio receiver it will be possible only with the help HUNDRED MERCEDES-BENZS or the manufacturer. |

From the middle of 2002 the MERCEDES-BENZ firm does not supply radio receivers with codes since electronics of the car identifies a radio receiver after connection of the storage battery.
Not to lose the kept data, it is possible to connect the auxiliary power supply. Before shutdown of the storage battery attach it to the lighter according to the instruction of the manufacturer. |
Removal

1. Switch off everything electric consumers. Switch off ignition. Thus damages of electronic monitors are excluded.
2. Open a cowl. The storage battery is on the party of the forward passenger under a box of the filter of air of salon.
Models with TeleAid system: In order to avoid a discharge of the battery of emergency supply at the disconnected storage battery of the car phone it is necessary to transfer to the mode (separate «The operation manual on phone»).
3. Remove a box of the filter of air of salon, address to the Section Replacement of an element of the filter of air of salon / the coal filter of purification of air.
4. Disconnect battery cables, at first negative, then a positive cable.

Before a detachment of a positive cable it is necessary to uncover over the positive plug.
After a detachment of plugs of the storage battery the key in the switch of ignition does not turn any more, and the coulisse of AT remains blocked in the situation "R". |
5. Unscrew 2 nuts and remove a fastening plate at the battery basis.
6. Take out the battery from an impellent compartment. |

Installation
|

1. Before installation smooth out to shine of a pole of the battery. The wire brush is suitable for this purpose from brass.
2. Establish into place the battery, a fastening plate at the basis of the battery and fix.
3. Before connection of the battery check, that ignition and all consumers were switched off.
4. At first attach a positive cable to a positive pole (+), then a negative cable to a negative pole (-) the storage battery.

The wrong connection of the battery can cause serious damages of the generator and other electric devices. |
5. Grease with a thin layer of technical vaseline of the plug of cables and the storage battery for protection against corrosion. Do not grease them before connection.
6. Put on a positive pole (+) a cover.
7. Establish into place a box of the filter of air of salon, address to the Section Replacement of an element of the filter of air of salon / the coal filter of purification of air.
8. After connection of the storage battery it is necessary to carry out the following works:
· Installation of hours (Undressed the Multipurpose steering wheel, the universal display).
· A repeated adjustment of lateral glasses (Undressed Window regulators, the roof hatch).
· A repeated adjustment of the panoramic shifted panel of a roof / a sun-protection shtorka (Undressed Window regulators, the roof hatch).
· Repeated adjustment of ESP system. For this purpose a steering wheel at the working engine turn from an emphasis against the stop.
· Adjustment of head restraints. |
